The role....Commercial Finance Manager, UK Retail... 

The Commercial Finance Manager is THE business partner and analytical support for the UK Retail team, championing excellent processes and providing insight to help to cement graze as the No. 1 healthy snack in UK Retail.
What you’ll be responsible for...

  • Reporting: Performance analysis and commentary on weekly/monthly/annual basis...

-evaluate actual performance against financial and operational targets
-identify the key reasons behind variances to targets 
-verify results and data integrity from internal, customer and third party sources
-Generate real insight into performance and turn into action with the UK Retail team

  • Budgeting and forecasting: Owner of the UK Retail P&L forecast & budget model & process...

-Coordinating inputs from commercial and supply teams
-Reporting of key financial and KPI outputs on a timely basis 
-Review and challenge of inputs and outputs to improve forecast accuracy
-Identification and quantification of opportunities and risks
-Construct insightful narrative with Head of Retail Finance to drive actions   

  • Value chain and opportunity modelling: Assist in sizing deals, providing inputs to sales and commercial teams, pressure testing & ensuring that deals meet predefined performance criteria. 

-Period close: Take ownership for month and year end processes with Group Finance to ensure accuracy of sales revenue recognition, trade accruals for promotional discounts and trade marketing and trade investment costs.
-Project manager: Help to deliver continuous improvement within systems and processes to help to implement Group processes and tools, including the rollout of Anaplan forecasting software
What we are looking for in you...

  • Curiosity & ‘hunger’ to get to the answer – desire to drive through until we are satisfied we truly understand what’s driving performance 
  • Excitement at the idea of taking ownership for UK Retail Finance and the ambition to have a real impact on the business
  • Ideally you’ll have worked in a Management Accountant / Financial Analyst role in FMCG retail as finance business partner to the commercial team in a medium-sized business!
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA) with 2+ years PQE, or experience of very similar roles
  • Practical knowledge applying relevant accounting rules e.g. revenue recognition and trade accruals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including ability to perform complex analyses
  • Very strong user of Excel, and ideally other systems (Anaplan, accounting packages)
  • Strong organisational, presentation and communication skills
  • Self-starter, able to manage multiple projects independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment (with appropriate support and coordination from Group level)

What we will expect in first 6 months...

  • Become the go-to person for all financial processes and queries for UK Retail, having developed excellent relationships with all key stakeholders
  • Improve processes to make business as usual more insightful in shorter periods of time
  • Develop detailed knowledge of KPIs, metrics, drivers and levers to explain and help performance
  • Show a keen sense of connection between Retail and Group performance and decision-making
  • Demonstrate development of your own skills and helping others to improve theirs
